Ervín Glaser was born in 1881 into the family of the Plzeň businessman Sigmund Glaser and his wife, Phillippina. He was of Jewish origin and spoke German. He received his engineering degree from the German Technical University in Prague, where he had started to study architecture in 1899.
Ervín Glaser lived in Jihlava no later than from 1914. His elder son Karel was born there at that time. Five years later, he had one more son, Bedřich, with his wife, Klára. Ervín Glaser implemented the purist villa for Fritz Neumann on Jiráskova Street in Jihlava, but his other works are not yet known. Later, he moved from Jihlava back to Plzeň, specifically to Starý Plzenec.
Ervín Glaser's entire family and many of his other relatives met a very sad end. Due to his Jewish origin, he was transported to Terezín in January 1942, and in the autumn of the same year to Auschwitz, where he was immediately murdered. His wife and son Bedřich perished together with him in Auschwitz, while Karel died in Dachau.
